Opening up Excel Reports in Outlook

Post by rossi »

Is there a way I can open an excel report into an Outlook window please?

Upon click of an excel dashboard report, I don't want it to kick open excel, I want it to stay within an outlook window.

Any ideas appreciated

I don't think this will work. Generally if Excel is called as a "sub-window" of another application (such as Outlook or IE) then the instance of Excel that is opened does so without any add ins, if tm1p isn't running this will render your report fairly useless. If the report is in an application folder then what about using the web URL API to call a TM1 websheet from within Outlook. I think this would do what you need.

...or start looking at the Cognos BI front end, as of 8.4 (tm1 9.4) it can use TM1 as a data source, that might give you some better functionality.
If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator.
