Pasting values in Excel to DBRW
I think (?) this worked for me the other day but is not today .
Copied a range of data and paste as values to range with dbrw formulas -
not working today - it will work if I copy and paste to one cell .
Thanks
Lewis

Re: Pasting values in Excel to DBRW
That's the way it's always been; if you copy a value and paste it into a single DBRW cell, it'll send that value to the cube and leave the formula intact. Do it with a multi-cell range and it'll overwrite the formulas. This has always infuriated me because (a) it's not documented, and (b) it's inconsistent behaviour between single and multi-cell ranges.Lewis wrote:I think (?) this worked for me the other day but is not today .

If you need to that kind of copy and paste, grab a copy of TM1 Tools add-in from http://www.tm1forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2515

Re: Pasting values in Excel to DBRW
Hello,
I have the exact same problem - I need to do a Paste to multiple cells and it override the formula.
I saw the suggestion about grabbing an extra add in, but the hyperlink is not working.

That link was posted before we changed names from OLAPForums to TM1Forum, and the change broke it. I've edited it to include the current link; try it again now.mnasra wrote:Hello,

Hello
Unfortunately, the TM1 tools paste function doesn't work in Active Forms. At least for me.

Ernest

Re: Pasting values in Excel to DBRW
OK, I know why that is. The cube reference for the active form is created using a TM1RPTVIEW() function rather than ye olde traditional VIEW() function. As a result the value that it returns is the name of the active form within the sheet rather than just the cube; for example rpo:RevenueAndStats:1 or rpo:RevenueAndStats:ARPT1. DBRWs are fine with this. DBSW's (which are used by the Bulk Paste function to send the numbers to the cube) are not, though DBS's are... if they are evaluated cell by cell and not via the normal [F9] functionality. Whether or not this constitutes a bug in the Excel client is in the eye of the beholder, and how charitably disposed one is to IBM.Ernie wrote: Unfortunately, the TM1 tools paste function doesn't work in Active Forms. {Dead silence aside from some crickets chirping...} OK, I'll say it then...
Off the top of my head I can think of a couple of different ways that I can fix that but I'll need to play around for a bit and see which one will be the least expensive in terms of processing time.

Re: Pasting values in Excel to DBRW
Hi Alan,
I have just completed the installation of TM1 Tools and the customer is really happy with (almost) everything...
What is really crucial is that they need to be able to do the "bulk paste" in active forms and I found this thread and read your last post... Did you come up with a solution?
Sorry, I just have to ask so I know if the customer needs another way of working or not.
Thanks for any answers.
