OVERFEEDING issue

Post by spark1713 »

hi all,

need your help!!
I got two cubes, one with 6 dimensions, the other with 2.
The 'little' cube takes value from the bigger one.
I was able to do the feeders, but they take really long when recalculating values, because lot of dimension are at total element.
is there any way to avoid overfeeding the cube and make the calculation faster?
many thanks
Francesca

Read the Request for assistance guidelines
3) Try to make the question as specific as possible. A general question like "How do I write a rule?" is difficult to answer without copying out the whole of the user manual. A question like "I have a payroll cube which contains the following dimensions {details} and a general ledger cube which contains the following dimensions {details}, and although I've read through the Rules Guide I'm still not sure how to write a rule to give me average sales per employee" is far more likely to get the answer your need.

Francesca,

Indeed, please provide details.

Also, what about the dimension sizes of the 2 dimensions in the smaller cube ?
In a small, dense, cube, I would not bother with feeding...

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and speculate that you aren't really talking about "feeders" since the calculation of feeders only happens when the rule is saved or you re-evaluate feeders in a TI process. I think what you really want to know is why does cube 2 take so long to open up and display values, correct? The answer is we can't really answer your question without more information but generally speaking, cube to cube rules do work but that doesn't always mean they are going to perform at the level you want. There is no way to "speed them up" short of making the source cube smaller. Unless the values "have" to be dynamic it may be better to transfer them from source to target as straight values via a TI process.
