Corruption of ActiveX objects on 10.2.2 FP5
Spent my day chasing down something which ultimately looks to be a version issue.
We received a template from a client that had a macro issue - Error 1004 - trying to hide rows and could not shift objects etc. etc.
We could not however move the objects that were problematic as these were TI Buttons (edit-Action Buttons).
It appeared that the worksheet was corrupt as we could not enumerate sheets in the book and do a debug.print of the obj.name
Deleting the TI Button crashed Excel. Numerous other attempts to remove ActiveX controls - TI and Non-TI failed miserably
We attempted the fix on Excel 2016,2013 and 2010 - same behaviour as all three had 10.2.2 FP5 installed.
Whether the add-in was active or not made no difference as the ActiveX seems to look for the TM1XL.OCX file to interpret the button.
@Lotsaram - I know you have done some tinkering on FP5 - would be keen to hear from you on this.
Would be keen to hear if anyone else has had this issue or can replicate.
edit: on FP5, the error raised is something like: Run-time error '32809' Application-defined or object-defined error but have seen various error numbers reported e.g. 57121

Not sure what a "TI Button" is, I presume you mean Action Button. Whenever I've encountered a problem like this (can't say that I've had the EXACT same thing) I load up Excel without the Perspectives add-in loaded, go into Developer Mode. remove the button, and save the worksheet.

Re: Corruption of ActiveX objects on 10.2.2 FP5
Hi Tom, a TIButton is what the ActiveX control is called once you have added it via the Action Button - you say potato, I say potato
I worked without the add-in loaded for most of the time-going into developer mode and deleting the ActiveX control is what crashed Excel constantly. Repeating my steps with the FP4 client did what I expected however-no crashing and I could manage objects.
Thanks for the reply.

TM1 10.2.2 FP5 - Sheets with action buttons saved in 10.2.2 FP5 Perspectives can only be read by 10.2.2 FP5 or higher clients (Perspectives and TM1 Web)
Just saw this from IBM - does not address the issues I seem to be experiencing but worthwhile being aware of for when you upgrade!

Did you solve the problem? I have 32809 error after upgrading to 10.2.2 FP5. All clients are FP5 as well.

Problem not solved - rolled back to FP4 for now as delivery deadlines loom.

I have also had to roll back TM1 web to FP4 in a couple of places. Action button issues but more so the charts in TM1 web just don't work in FP5.gtonkin wrote:Problem not solved - rolled back to FP4 for now as delivery deadlines loom.

Indeed, charts just do not update - even charts without data from TM1 but just plotting data in cells. FP5 has serious issues there.lotsaram wrote:gtonkin wrote: Action button issues but more so the charts in TM1 web just don't work in FP5.

Hey, any further updates on this issue. I am wondering if there is any other solution other than reverting back to FP4.

Nothing to report from my side - holding out for FP6 or 10.3 (Planning Analytics-on premise version)
All the FP6 links posted last week seem to have been retracted - not comforting.

Re: Corruption of ActiveX objects on 10.2.2 FP5
I could see that the issue is with TM1 Perspective client. Wondering if I can use 10.2.2 FP4 perspective client with 10.2.2 FP5 server?
I have tested some functionalities, it seems to be working fine. Has anyone tried such an options?

Yes. Older client newer server works, just not the other way round.dhims wrote:I could see that the issue is with TM1 Perspective client. Wondering if I can use 10.2.2 FP4 perspective client with 10.2.2 FP5 server?
