Oracle announced OBIEE 11g with the new "Common Enterprise Information Model":

The vague part about it is
if you take the time to build it
But I found Release 10 already was very powerful and intuitive to work with.

What they don't say is if they are going to improve things like having multiple values for the view holding cell or if they are going to make grouping measures in the presentation layer better than putting a "->" in the commentary box on the related parent..... These and many other things are a little bizzar.

11g just seems to be (in my opinion) an exercise in Essbase integration, which is by the way no bad thing. I'm looking forward to getting hold of it to see what else they have improved,

Jim.

I've seen 11g a couple of times now and on top of Essbase inegration there are a couple of other benefits:

1) Pivot views now act more like pivot tables in Excel.
2) They have added (at a price) a map function so you can view geograpic performance on a map basis.
3) Scorecarding is now easier and looks a lot better.

The main issue (for me) that is still outstanding is the lack of development on calculated items. Some will say that the likes of variance calculations should be completed within Essbase, which is fine, if you have essbase. Without it, it can be very difficult to calculate meaningful variances.
