Macros are used to Clube the actions which can be performed in Cognos Planning.
Links are used to flow data from or to cube using various data source.

If I have to compare Macros it can very much near to Chore/ TI. There wont be direct comparison among Macros and Chore, it is very much near to it. Where as it will be near to TI were in we can update dimension and all other activities.
Links can be compared with TI. Only thing the functionality limited up til data movement and not more than that.

TM1 Rule are altogether a different comparison. As there is no functionality available in Planning in comparison with TM1 rule. At Planning contributor application level it get mimic the rule functionality only if the links were there in update table (There will be physical data movement and not virtual) .

Hi Dilip,

If there is migration from EP to TM1 then suggested approach will be Complete development from scratch. Planning model can be used as guidelines of requirement.
You should not replicate the cube and data flow as it. EP design is developed with the limitations which can be easily overcome in TM1. Such as in EP if there is calculation need to apply then the base values should be available in one cube, Whereas in TM1 two or multiple cubes data can be utilized in any cube.

Many time model is divided in EP to overcome the Sizing issue, which was major bottleneck. This can be easily ignored in TM1.

There are many more factor which can be ignored and also need to take care while migrating EP model into TM1. This all depend upon the requirement of Business and not just current available EP model.
