The End Of Insight?

One can hope. One can hope even more that something better (ideally faster than frozen treacle) will replace it. I just received my invite to the Cognos User Group Xmas Function. (Yes, believe it or not I'm still invited.) I have to admit to being impressed with the registration link which was pre-f...

Re: TM1 Web Supress Zeros

Can zeros suppression be toggled on and off in TM1 Web? By the user? Yes, in a view. There's an icon on the toolbar (9.1 SP4) which allows suppression by rows, columns or both. By an administrator? Well, you can publish the view with the relevant setting and it seems to be honoured. In a websheet? ...

Re: Connection options to SAP

I have connected driectly in the past with other tools. Regardless of what SAP think, the main issue is that all the table names are in German. And when you generate an Excel report, the module names come out in German as well. It was somewhat disorienting to see the ThisWorkbook object come out as...

Re: Delete multiple objects in Server Explorer

I can't remember the exact version this came in, somewhere round 8.4 I think, but in Server Explorer you can: - view the properties window - select your parent node object on left pane - children objects appear in properties pane - Use Mouse to highlight multiple child objects in properties pane - ...

Delete multiple objects in Server Explorer

Actually I'll be surprised if someone hasn't requested this already. I'm sure that we all have had situations where we've wanted to delete obsolete chores and the related processes, or obsolete views, or obsolete dimensions. The problem is that Server Explorer allows you to do it one... at... a... t...

Re: Strings in TM1

I have been encountering a odd situation and am not sure where to go from here. Our users can enter in comments to print out on reports and these are stored within a cube as String elements. But recently certain values have begun to corrupt with garbage characters. So far the occurances seem to be ...

Re: 11-101026871-9.1SP4-Apparent bug in Load On demand Property

I'm betting that the response I get to this is that the documentation is wrong and that it's always been this way, though admittedly I haven't had cause to use it very often in the past which means that I may not have noticed it in earlier versions. It's unfortunate that I didn't have a few bucks o...

11-100455711 - 9.1 SP4 Memory Handling Issues

Here's a tip for those of you submitting bug reports; put the server log in as an attachment. Because when I put it in line, as drafted below, I got a Cognos Insight error SBL-UIF-00299, telling me that there was something invalid in my Description field. This is an error code which, naturally, coul...

Re: inventory balances

Hi, I have a request for which I need to store the rolling balances for inventory stock on hand. So basically, I need to roll the closing balance of the previous month as the opening balance of the next month. Since, the data source is at a transaction level the opening balance for each month needs...

I like the total war series myself. I never get time to play though. I'm always too busy playing WOW. 8-) I feel one of those famous OLAPForums "skewing away from the original topic at warp 7" digressions coming on, but verily, coming across this article today it's too much to resist: Cou...

Re: Excel issue

Hi, has anybody ever experienced the following?: I got Excel crashed in my local computer by something I can't remember, then I tried to open it up again and nothing happened. Also I remote desktop to a server where I got TM1 installed, then tried to open up Excel in the server too, and nothing hap...

Brillinat write up as usual my friend. All sounds very interesting. Cognos Performance 2008 - Sydney Presentation

Although I went primarily to look for TM1 information, this was a Cognos presentation and I'll therefore put this post in that group. There was a pretty significant turn out. I did a rough estimate of the number of badges that they had out for collection... they were laid out in columns of 10, with ...

Scott, thanks. I have the DataSourceName and DataSourceName on server pointing to the same place. the file I am uploading is saved on our tm1 server. I ran the identical process with the identical file on a local server and it worked fine. I am new to the game so any advice is welcome. Thanks again...

Re: Enforced Password Changes

As a side issue, I found that it is not possible to delete the Admin user. Is this news to my esteemed colleagues? Nope. I think that's documented somewhere, or it was at one point. I seem to recall reading it once many moons (and planetary orbits) ago, but I can't recall where. It's not unpreceden...

Re: Enforced Password Changes

Am i missing something here? }Client Properties - PasswordExpirationDays - forces the user to change password after x days I have this enforced by a rule; I haven't tested this, but it looks very clever. Still doesn't quite do the job that "real" password expiry methods do, but it's a wor...
