Re: Cognos TM1 Active Form disable in Excel 2007

Context sensitive in the same way that typically all office menus toolbars and ribbons are context sensitive. That is buttons are enabled when they have relevant functionality to the current selection, otherwise they are greyed out and inactive. In your case from the pattern of buttons that are inac...

Re: Cognos TM1 Active Form disable in Excel 2007

It is very interesting that the first feature you chose to use being the in-spreadsheet browser is also probably one of the most obscure! The buttons on the TM1 ribbon are context sensitive. Depending whether you are logged in to a TM1 server and then again on the context of the cell that is selecte...

Re: Moving Data between TM1 Servers

Hi David, To be fair I didn't say that dividing a TM1 app across servers is always a bad idea. I said that keeping a design as simple as possible is almost always the best option. Quite distinct and different opinions. One of the most powerful feature of TM1 is that you can have an integrated planni...

Re: Is TM1 9.5x stable?

We upgraded from 9.1.3 to 9.5.1 10 days ago and so far so good. I noticed server start up is faster. And tm1sd memory usage on 64 bit Windows went from 9gb to 3.5gb. Were you loading on multiple cores in both versions and was the memory reduction due to switching to persistent feeders and consequen...

Re: Moving Data between TM1 Servers

Hello Everyone, what are the various ways that one can move data between two or more different TM1 models or across TM1 servers? For instance, assume that one TM1 server is a detailed revenue model and another is your overheads model. How would you move these across TM1 servers to roll into a PL mo...

Re: Feeders for rules using what if statements?

One thing that you can do in certain circumstances rather than a conditional feeder or "semi-conditional"/attribute style feeder is to have a data entry string parameters cube with much of the same dimensionality where the value entered against a string measure corresponds to the identity ...

['(DIMNM('Date_History', DIMSIZ('Date_History')))'] Also to add to Alan's comments, it would appear that you are trying to use a function within the square bracket (shorthand) notation. The square bracket notation can only accept literal strings as arguments. If you want to nest functions then you ...

Re: MDX Based Subsets - Data v Subset Manipulation

Hi Steve, As the MDX to define dynamic subset members can refer to any object on the server TM1 takes the easy way out, rather than building an exhaustive map of dynamic subset dependencies TM1 simply invalidates all dynamic subsets on any change to meta data or data anywhere on the server. Dynamic ...

Re: Replication

Is the additional replicated server a read only reporting server? If you don't need very frequent updates of the replicated server to mirror production in near real time (say you only need a daily or 2x daily sync) then you really don't need replication, you should be able to just copy the data dire...

Does your date format have to be "dd.mm.yyyy"? Not all number and date formats are supported in TM1 Web.

Why not use "dd/mm/yyyy" instead which definitely is supported?

Re: Interesting assessment of TM1 'vs' EP

Hi mce I think most if not all would agree that due to limitations in the calculation engine there are a lot of finesseing, design considerations and workarounds to do in order to make a large EP model work, and I mean A LOT . The point is that TM1 just does it, there is no need to worry about dimen...

Re: Installing Cognos Express

At the core Xcelerator is just TM1. Just edit the tm1s.cfg file in the default install directory to point to whatever data directory and logging directory location that you want (you can also change the server name from CXMD to something more meaningful (but you will then have the edit web.config as...

Re: send TM1ProcessError file to user

Yes you can but you will have to cobble together a 3rd party email application that you can call from command line with GetProcessErrorFilename and ExecuteCommand (and have access to a SMTP server).

While this isn't out of the box it also isn't too difficult to put together and is not uncommon.

Re: TM1 9.4 under Windows 7

EV 9.4 also seems to be a no go zone with windows 7.

I have TM1 web zinging along on windows 7 with none of the problems Martin reported http://forums.olapforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2823
but EV steadfastly refuses to install on windows 7.

Has anyone out there cracked it and got EV to work?

Re: Active Forms - Different Filters for Different Columns

I'm assuming that by "filter" you mean "context filter" or "title element" as opposed to filter in terms of a top count, or sort ... The cached stargate view that gets built for your active form uses the specified month as a title element, therefore "All months&quo...

Re: Cognos TM1 versus Hyperion HFM

TM1 can do and does consolidations really well (it remains something not very well understood by IBM that TM1 can do this though!). However it is a built it yourself scenario, you simply won't find an IBM manual for this as is is not part of the off the shelf software. Sometimes if the number of led...

Re: commentary in contributor

I'm not really sure about the OP's requirement or this comment ... Yes you can aggregate a String in a consolidation level. By definition strings don't consolidate. A string can be entered in any cell of a cube, consolidated or not. If you really wanted you could define a rule to concatenate the str...
