Re: 9.1 SP4 Not connecting to Server
Without knowing what version you upgraded from its difficult to determine where the problem lies. At a guess I'd say it's a change to client settings - speficially the certificate Path - need to change it from C:\program files\applix\ssl\..... to C:\program files\cognos\.... (through Perspectives/Se...

Re: Rules Based on Element Selection
I'll try to specifically answer your queries in 2 parts : 1) Short answer is no - you can't define TM1 Rules to interact with any of the 'dropdowns' in your Cube Viewer. 2) Yes - you can 'override' the Net Profit consolidation using a '= C:' rule. Your 'C-Level' 'Net Profit' rule should be something...

To cover the original posters query :

"Pivot tables are fully functional in Excel 2003. Due to a new data access TM1 pivot tables are currently not supported in the 9.4 release."

Re: Dashboard Development
I'm a notepad++ user. Has built-in highlighting for a range of scripting languages - can be customised to create your own 'highlighting' if you can be bothered - if I remember correctly someone in the old Applix forum may have created a 'highlighter' for Turbo Integrator for notepad++ - no idea whet...

Re: Connecting TI to Teradata
I may be misremembering but doesn't the user that the TM1 server/service runs under need to have the rights to open ODBC connections? This is normally a default but if your IT department is particularly paranoid then you'll need to check this too. Cheers edit so the post makes sense! Yes - the serv...

Re: Connecting TI to Teradata
Can only be 2 things: 1) ODBC Connection setup not correct 2) Incorrect Username/Password supplied to the ODBC connection from TM1 Under both these circumstances TI will return a "unable to open connection to database" error message If a SQL query in the Datasource tab of a TI has incorrec...

Re: Connecting TI to Teradata
"Unable to open connection to database". Suggests your ODBC connection isn't right (query isn't the issue here).
Are you testing your TI using TM1 directly on the server (ie using terminal services or citrix)?

Re: Pivot tables in Excel 2007
I hate it when people ask this question but I just have to do it : "Why would ya want to do that?" The TM1 GUI (Excel & Perspectives) is essentially a super-charged Pivot Table. Kinda like choosing to hand-wash a basket of clothes when you have a brand-new washing-machine right next t...

Michel - I should have mentioned in my post my local database directory is pointed to a valid TM1 data directory. I can update xdi's & xru's so the lcoation to the data directory is valid.

Dimension Worksheets - Auto Update
Trying to decipher the mechanism that determines whether TM1 prompts users 'Do you want to Update dimension Worksheet?' after manually updating a Dimension through server explorer. I was led to believe the MsgBox & Functionality were TM1 version specific however I only seem to currently be able ...

Re: Interaction of element and cell security rules
Appears you have defined 2 different types of security: * Dimension security (Cost Centre dim) * Cell level cube security (Salaries cube) From the example below there's going to be a conflict in these rules - i'd have assumed the cell level security would have taken precedence (might not be the case...

Re: Measuring TM1 Performance / Benchmark
TM1 Top is likely to be your best friend for benchmarking. The tm1top.exe sits under the Cognos\TM1\bin directroy, there's a tm1top.ini file that determines a whole range of logging preferences. Doco will guide you with configuring the .ini file in need be.

Re: TM1 Consultants & Developers shortage?
Not sure its a global issue (in the US possibly not), however year-end is slowly approaching for most Australian companies. TM1 Consultants with budgeting & forecasting skills are generally quite busy during this time as new TM1 models are being developed and/or amendments to existing TM1 Budget...

Re: Processing Error
If it hasn't finished after 2 days I'd guess there's something not quite right.
Cancel processing and 'undo' the most recent change you made (if you can remember what it was). If that's no help I'd suggest revewing your SSAS 'processing options'.

Re: Recommendations for 700 users and high volumes
Hi Mike 700 READ/WRITE users is quite a large number, 128-GIG on a 64 Bit server is overkill, I could go on, ... but I'd be making too many assumptions. Your first port of call is to definitely contact a local consulting firm who have performed implementations within your industry verticle and have ...

Re: TM1 9.4 MR1
I believe using the MaximumCubeLoadThreads to gain an increase in TM1 Service start time is a HUGE price to pay given the memory usage cost (which TM1 keeps and doesn't release back to the Server). I've experienced models that utilise 65% of Server mem usage when not utilising MaximumCubeLoadThreads...
