Re: PAW and PVU
I have checked again with IBM and they have pointed out a further clause in the license document which says: Components Used for Establishing Required Entitlements When determining the number of entitlements required for Licensee's installation or use of the Program, the installation or use of only ...

Re: PAW and PVU
That is interesting (and worrying!). I queried this in Aug 2019 with IBM in the context of PA Express where the PAW server is not listed as supported program . I got the answer below which seems to cover both PA Local and PA Express. "We don't count the PAW servers as part of the PVU or server ...

Re: Retrieving Data using Alternate Hierarchy
Paul,
Lack of DBRW support for new "Hierarchies" was mentioned at one of the Road Map sessions at IBM Vision in May. IBM said they plan to introduce a new formula that does support Hierarchies but I don't think any timescale was mentioned.

Re: Create a cube with a separate administrator
Kamil I agree a local server would have been a good technical solution for this issue but licensing has changed a lot since 10 years ago. Then it would have been a "Perspectives" license which was licensed per install rather than as a named or concurrent user. I am intrigued by the Cognos ...

Re: Create a cube with a separate administrator
Kamil, Interesting suggestion. I expect the people who wrote the license agreement will have no idea about a "Local server" and I can find no specific referenc to it in the 10.2.2 licence agreement. However, if it is running on the administrator's local PC (not the server) and the instance...

Re: Create a cube with a separate administrator
Mark, There is not necessarily a n extra software cost to running another instance of TM1 server. You do not say whether you are using Enterprise or Cognos Express (CX) TM1 and the licensing depends on the this and the software version. Under CX 10.2.2 you can run multiple instances provided the pow...

Chris,
Are you aware that the license agreement is for Planning Analytics Advanced, not the normal Planning Analytics Local license, which doesn't have rights to CCC?

Re: TM1 calculation option
Mark,
13.8% sounds suspiciously like Employers NI rate. If so:
- it changed from 12.8% in ( I think 2010)
- the employers amount is calculated as 13.8% above a threshold that changes year on year.

IBM Sells CDM
Just seen that IBM have sold Cognos Disclosure Management (CDM) and the remaining bits of the Clarity acquisition. Not strictly TM1 I know but we have a couple of customers using it for management reporting packs with TM1

Re: Cognos TM1 as data source in Microsft BI
CarpeDatum have a connector, TM1Connect, which links TM1 to Power BI (pLus Tableau and Qlik I think).
We are currently working with one of our clients on the Power BI\TM1 connection and initial tests results are good.
I think a couple of other partners have something similar as well.

Re: Things I can't do in Performance Modeler
I'm trying to be a good, modern user and utilize the PM interface. I do see the advantages, and know that a lot of the features for PAW will require me to use PM. Chris, IMHO, PM was developed by the old Cognos Planning team to make TM1 look as close to CP as possible. I like it for sales demos but...

Planning Analytics for TM1 and Cognos Express customers
InfoCat is running a series of webinars to introduce Planning Analytics to existing TM1 and Cognos Express users. Apart from a demonstration of the new features, we hope to explain the relationship of PA to TM1 and dispel confusion caused by IBM's name change. The first webinar, lasting 1 hour, aims...

Re: Cognos Express 10.2.2 and Virtualization
So if i understand correctly, because the Analytical Server (TM1) has a PVU limit, sub-capacity licensing terms can be applied? I think that is correct. To me, it is clear in the license document and I have verified that with several IBM contacts. Note that this applies specifically to CX 10.2.2 an...

Re: Cognos Express 10.2.2 and Virtualization
Cognos Express isn't PVU based but Install- and AuthorizeD User Based. Correct, but if you look at section 3 of the CX 10.2.2 licensing you will see that "IBM Cognos Analytical Server" (ie TM1) is a "Supporting Program" with an entitlement ration of 1,600 PVU's per CX instance. ...

Re: TM1 Licensing Questions
UPDATE: sorry, just see you are on 9.3? So my assumption is you have not paid support fee for a while. TM1 Version 9.3 never existed; the numbering changed from 9.1 under Applix to 9.4 post Cognos\IBM takeover. As mvaspal pointed out, if you are out off support there may be more cost efficient opti...

Re: IBM Planning Analytics On Prem
I understood it as the Docker thing (PAW) actually needed its own server. I think this was due to the fact that it needed dedicated processors and ram. Hopefully Im wrong and I could put it on the same machine as the one running my BI (For CAM) and Web-server. I do this to lower the PVU needed. . B...
