Re: setting dimension security within TI?

I suspect the reason for your problem is that the dimension is part of a cube and therefore cannot be destroyed. actually this is the only dimension that is not used in a cube. it is a reference cube so some of the advanced users can see the relationships between one of the other dimensions with a ...

setting dimension security within TI?

Hi! i have a chore that contains several 'rebuild dimension' processes, which 1 was encountering sporatic errors. Occationally, the TI process wasn't fully destroying the dimension prior to (re)creating it, all within the 1 'rebuild' process. i opened a PMR with IBM (haha) and haven't been able to f...

asciioutput using NOW as the name of the file

I'm trying to write a control process that will generate an ascii file with the current month & current year as the name of the file. can someone correct my syntax please? ASCIIOutput('C:\temp\'|Now|'.txt, yr_mo); where "yr_mo" is the variable that will be displayed in the text file.

just to follow up... i used an attribute on all 70+ elements to use for a lookup in a reference cube. seems to work pretty smoothly.

Thanks!

need help with nested syntax

hi all, hope someone can point out what i'm doing wrong here... my eyes are melting :? i tried breaking the formula down to it's simplist state of an IF statement, so don't mind the results of "1" if true, "2" if false... ['Ultimate RPC Ratio'] = IF(DB('WP Actual Reporting', !BPF...

writing a rule for 70+ elements that all start with XX...

Hi all, I'm trying to write some ratio rules in the Server Explorer and there's a pretty big IF; if elements [start with X....] then... Is there a rule that i can write for "starts with"? I'd really prefer not to write 72 individual rules for all the multi-level decendants (which all start...

Re: Variable not registering in Advanced tabs

Yes, Alan... that's what i'm trying to do. Thank you to all that contributed to this post! I moved the syntax to the data tab and it is working consistantly now. I've only ever put asciioutput on the prolog tab (as did IBM support from applix). I needed a thorough understanding of how all the advanc...

Variable not registering in Advanced tabs

i'm reposting the below topic because the issue is believed to be a clitch with the datasource rather than the TI syntax. The TI process's datasource is a SQL sub query via ODBC connection. See below for query. The query presents the expected results in the datasource tab's preview window. The sampl...

Re: Replacement of Cognos Insight! by IBM support. Or not.

by Steve Vincent » Fri Jun 05, 2009 4:13 am I'd help if i knew what my ICN was. It'd help even more if someone that answers their support line knew the difference between "i cannot log in to your website" and "is it a hardware problem". The way i was talked too i'd be surprised ...

Re: TI: IF & chorequit syntax

another day, another result  variable is not registering in the epilog tab now... chris from IBM/applix is looking into this still... anyone have any thoughts relating to ODBC connections to sql db, and variables not registering in the advanced tabs?

it sounds to me like you need to split up security groups. cube and dimension security is only set by groups.

Re: TI: IF & chorequit syntax

update: just got off the phone with IBM support (Chris from Applix) and through trial & error, we moved the syntax from prolog tab to epilog tab and the variable is now registering and the process works. he seems to think that there is some timing issue with the sql query via odbc conflicts with...

Re: TI: IF & chorequit syntax

I took lotsaram's advice and added the asciioutput command to verify if my variable is being recognized correctly and it is not. i see "NOTE: Processing Completed" in the datasource's preview window as the next_proc field; in the variables tab i've identified the next_proc field as content...

Re: TI: IF & chorequit syntax

thanks for the syntax correction alan. now when i ran a test chore: #first a process with the syntax: IF(next_proc@<>'NOTE: Processing Completed'); ChoreQuit; EndIf; #secondly a test process the entire chore seems to abort because of the chorequit command. the process doesn't seem to take into accou...

Re: Seeking advice on Rule (under/over feeding or use TI)

yes, the cube has been unloaded and server restarted many times since, so with that said, i think i'll be ok... after looking into this issue, i realized that a former employee turn consultant wrote some similar rules without feeders in another application. i have been under the impression that rule...

Re: Seeking advice on Rule (under/over feeding or use TI)

Following up.... I took your suggestion(s) and created the YTD as consolidations, and wrote rules for the measure where the exception is needed i.e. ['Feb YTD','In Force New Business']=['February','In Force New Business']; ['Mar YTD','In Force New Business']=['March','In Force New Business']; ['Apr ...
